About The Toronto Symphony

Overview

The Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO) provides distinctive performances of both new and established orchestral music to internationally recognized standards and engages with communities in the Greater Toronto Area through performances, education programs, and partnerships. Due to public health restrictions introduced in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the TSO's regularly-scheduled events from mid-March onwards were cancelled. As a result, the Symphony introduced a number of digital programs, as described in 'New Programs' below. Before the COVID-19 cancellations, the TSO had performed 87 concerts with a total attendance of just over 160,000 during its 2019/20 season.

Mission

To shape and celebrate Canadian culture through musical excellence and connection, engaging and enriching local and national communities through vibrant musical experiences while serving as a group of artists, teachers, and advocates who share the belief that music has the power to heal, inspire, and connect people from all walks of life.

Vision

Musical excellence, community engagement, diversity and inclusion, accessibility, artistic innovation, cultural celebration, and fostering connection through the transformative power of music.

Unique value proposition

As Canada's flagship orchestra with over a century of history, the TSO uniquely combines internationally recognized musical excellence with deep community roots, offering everything from world-class performances at Roy Thomson Hall to innovative digital programming and education initiatives including the tuition-free Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra program.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about getting started.

How does WellFunded work?

Donor-advised funds, wealth advisors and foundations use WellFunded to find, research and fund Canadian charities. Instead of rewriting the same proposal for every funder, you complete one profile and it's ready for all of them. Fill in a few short sections and upload your annual report, and we'll turn it into an impact page funders can find by cause, location and program.

Do I need to apply for funding?

No. Funders search WellFunded for charities that match what they want to support, and your profile is what they find. When a funder wants to know more, you'll hear from us. Some funders also post Giving Opportunities for a specific focus, and you can respond to those with the profile you've already built.

What does it cost?

WellFunded is free for charities. We don't charge transaction fees, and we never take a cut of any gift. Funders pay to use the platform.

Who sees my profile?

Donor-advised funds, advisors and foundations using WellFunded to research charities. Together they manage over $2.3B in charitable assets. WellFunded isn't open to the general public.

What is a WellCheck?

When a funder is seriously considering your charity, they may ask for a WellCheck. It's a short set of questions plus a few documents, reviewed alongside your audited financials and CRA filings. We present findings, not verdicts: no scores and no rankings. Do it once, and it's ready for every funder who asks after that.

Is my information secure?

Yes. Your data stays in Canada, and we never sell it. See our privacy policy for details.

Is this legitimate?

WellFunded is a Canadian company, built in B.C. by the team behind one of Canada's first online donor-advised funds. If you'd like to meet us first, book a small group session with Jeff, our co-founder and CEO.
