About Art Gallery Of Greater Victoria

Overview

Art Gallery of Greater Victoria is a public art gallery located in Victoria, British Columbia. They showcase exhibitions from Canadian contemporary and historical artists, international artists, and a world-class Asian collection. With the largest collection of visual arts in public trust in British Columbia, the gallery provides year-round public programming and exhibitions to enrich visitors' experiences. They also offer educational programs for children and youth, including outreach programs, special family events, studio classes, and school tours. Additionally, the gallery provides programs and experiences for adults through public tours, lectures, performances, and special events.

Mission

The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria exists to connect people and art in order to build a better understanding of the world. Its core purpose is to serve as an accessible gathering place where diverse audiences can experience art through exhibitions, programs, and other media, creating spaces for conversation and learning while responsibly stewarding its collections for future generations.

Unique value proposition

The AGGV stands apart as the steward of British Columbia's largest public art collection, including a world-class Asian art collection assembled over nearly seven decades of collecting across the Pacific Rim. It combines this exceptional collection with a commitment to genuine accessibility โ€” offering free admission programs, need-based bursaries for studio education, and programming for special needs groups โ€” all within an intimate, heritage setting that lowers barriers for audiences who might otherwise feel excluded from the art world. Its flagship Paint-In festival, Vancouver Island's largest summer arts event, further distinguishes the AGGV as the region's central hub for visual arts community engagement and celebration of local artists.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about getting started.

How does WellFunded work?

Donor-advised funds, wealth advisors and foundations use WellFunded to find, research and fund Canadian charities. Instead of rewriting the same proposal for every funder, you complete one profile and it's ready for all of them. Fill in a few short sections and upload your annual report, and we'll turn it into an impact page funders can find by cause, location and program.

Do I need to apply for funding?

No. Funders search WellFunded for charities that match what they want to support, and your profile is what they find. When a funder wants to know more, you'll hear from us. Some funders also post Giving Opportunities for a specific focus, and you can respond to those with the profile you've already built.

What does it cost?

WellFunded is free for charities. We don't charge transaction fees, and we never take a cut of any gift. Funders pay to use the platform.

Who sees my profile?

Donor-advised funds, advisors and foundations using WellFunded to research charities. Together they manage over $2.3B in charitable assets. WellFunded isn't open to the general public.

What is a WellCheck?

When a funder is seriously considering your charity, they may ask for a WellCheck. It's a short set of questions plus a few documents, reviewed alongside your audited financials and CRA filings. We present findings, not verdicts: no scores and no rankings. Do it once, and it's ready for every funder who asks after that.

Is my information secure?

Yes. Your data stays in Canada, and we never sell it. See our privacy policy for details.

Is this legitimate?

WellFunded is a Canadian company, built in B.C. by the team behind one of Canada's first online donor-advised funds. If you'd like to meet us first, book a small group session with Jeff, our co-founder and CEO.
