Amnesty International Canadian Section (English Speaking)

Amnesty International Canadian Section (English Speaking) plays a vital role in the international protection of human rights. The organization takes action to stop grave abuses of rights to physical and mental integrity, freedom of conscience and expression, and freedom from discrimination. Their programs tend to be ongoing rather than new, focusing on the rights of indigenous peoples, corporate accountability with respect to human rights, anti-racism and anti-oppression, and the need for human rights to be considered when security issues are addressed. Amnesty also focuses on freeing prisoners of conscience, protecting refugees, abolishing the death penalty, ending political killings, disappearances, torture, and other grave human rights abuses, as well as defending women's human rights.

To campaign for a world in which every person enjoys all of the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international human rights instruments, taking action to stop grave abuses of rights to physical and mental integrity, freedom of conscience and expression, and freedom from discrimination.
