About Foothills Country Hospice Society

Overview

Foothills Country Hospice Society aims to provide end-of-life services for individuals with terminal illnesses and their families and friends, primarily in the Okotoks and surrounding Foothills area. The organization offers support, comfort, and compassionate care to ensure that patients and their loved ones can experience a peaceful and dignified end-of-life journey. Through various programs and services, Foothills Country Hospice Society strives to enhance quality of life, promote well-being, and provide a sense of community during a challenging time. By focusing on holistic care and personalized support, the charity is dedicated to creating a supportive environment where individuals facing end-of-life care can find comfort and solace.

Mission

The mission of Foothills Country Hospice Society is to embrace quality in living, compassion in death, and support in bereavement for the Foothills community. The organization exists to provide exemplary, holistic end-of-life and bereavement care to individuals with terminal illnesses and to their families and friends, primarily in the Okotoks and surrounding Foothills area of Alberta.

Vision

Foothills Country Hospice Society envisions a future in which individuals and families facing life-limiting illness are never alone, regardless of where they live. The organization strives to reach beyond its hospice walls to support the entire community through the end of life's journey, guided by core values of safe and quality care, compassion, dignity and respect, teamwork, volunteerism, and deep community connection.

Unique value proposition

Foothills Country Hospice Society is one of the few rural, free-standing residential hospices in Alberta, offering a warm, home-like country setting โ€” complete with mountain views, forested walking paths, and tranquil gardens โ€” that stands in deliberate contrast to institutional hospital care. Its recently expanded 26,700-square-foot facility on an eight-acre parcel provides private, thoughtfully appointed patient rooms alongside communal spaces designed for comfort and dignity. The hospice is entirely community-supported and charges patients nothing for care, while its suite of free community grief and palliative programs extends its compassionate reach to all Foothills residents, regardless of any prior connection to the hospice.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about getting started.

How does WellFunded work?

Donor-advised funds, wealth advisors and foundations use WellFunded to find, research and fund Canadian charities. Instead of rewriting the same proposal for every funder, you complete one profile and it's ready for all of them. Fill in a few short sections and upload your annual report, and we'll turn it into an impact page funders can find by cause, location and program.

Do I need to apply for funding?

No. Funders search WellFunded for charities that match what they want to support, and your profile is what they find. When a funder wants to know more, you'll hear from us. Some funders also post Giving Opportunities for a specific focus, and you can respond to those with the profile you've already built.

What does it cost?

WellFunded is free for charities. We don't charge transaction fees, and we never take a cut of any gift. Funders pay to use the platform.

Who sees my profile?

Donor-advised funds, advisors and foundations using WellFunded to research charities. Together they manage over $2.3B in charitable assets. WellFunded isn't open to the general public.

What is a WellCheck?

When a funder is seriously considering your charity, they may ask for a WellCheck. It's a short set of questions plus a few documents, reviewed alongside your audited financials and CRA filings. We present findings, not verdicts: no scores and no rankings. Do it once, and it's ready for every funder who asks after that.

Is my information secure?

Yes. Your data stays in Canada, and we never sell it. See our privacy policy for details.

Is this legitimate?

WellFunded is a Canadian company, built in B.C. by the team behind one of Canada's first online donor-advised funds. If you'd like to meet us first, book a small group session with Jeff, our co-founder and CEO.
