About British Columbia's Children's Hospital Foundation

Overview

BC Children’s Hospital—ranked among the world’s top 10 pediatric hospitals—is where the future of care is being written. As the only hospital in BC and the Yukon dedicated exclusively to children, nearly one million kids count on it for specialized care.

Since 1982, BC Children’s Hospital Foundation has driven transformative advancements as the single largest charitable funder of pediatric health care. By partnering with individual supporters, community fundraisers and corporate champions who refuse to accept limits on what’s possible, we fund innovative research, advanced technology and specialized programs. This investment gives medical teams and researchers the freedom to take calculated risks to pursue the bold ideas that will define tomorrow’s standards of care.

Our community of nearly 100,000 annual donors fuels this extraordinary progress. Together, we’re powering the possible to create healthier futures for children and a stronger society for us all.

Mission

To be a catalyst for transformative child health through excellence in philanthropy, collaboration and advocacy.

Vision

Power the Possible: Inspired by the resilience of children and families, the dedication of our hospital community, and the generosity of our supporters, we power the possible.

We fundraise to provide children with excellence in health care beyond what the government supports. We champion the impact of our unique world-class leadership in child health and the critical need to continuously drive advancements, provincially and globally. We collaborate as one team with healthcare partners to work towards our shared vision for child and youth health. We inspire and nurture a community of proud, loyal supporters by enabling meaningful experiences and making it easy to contribute. We seek to amplify every dollar we raise for maximum impact and are effective, transparent and accountable stewards. We are united in our unwavering belief in our cause.

Values

Think big: Boldly envision the future and embrace change with openness, curiosity and determination.

Step up: Be accountable to yourself, the team and our shared cause; be a good partner.

Lead with heart: Listen, be kind and inclusive, respect the needs, voices and feelings of others; celebrate the journey.

Unique Value Proposition

BC Children’s is ranked among the top pediatric hospitals in the world and is one of the only facilities in North America with an acute care centre, research institute, rehabilitation and developmental assessment centre, and mental health services all in one place. Each year, the hospital treats over 125,000 patients, including the sickest and most seriously injured children.

BC Children’s serves a pediatric population of close to one million kids across more than one million square kilometres, the largest geographic region of any children’s hospital in North America. Over 50 per cent of patients come from outside the Vancouver Coastal Health region. The hospital also offers travelling and virtual outreach clinics and expanded telehealth programs to bring care closer to home.

More than 4,000 medical experts—including 2,000 research professionals—work at BC Children’s to tackle the most complex health challenges facing children and youth. The hospital is a global leader in pioneering breakthroughs that transform pediatric care. It was the first Canadian hospital to implant a new type of pacemaker in a newborn baby, launched the Clinical Trials Super Hub to ensure children have timely access to cutting-edge clinical trials, and leads the world in discovering rare diseases that have been completely unknown to medicine. These transformative “firsts” are reshaping how children are treated, here and around the world.

Everything you need to know about getting started

WellFunded eliminates the inefficiencies, inequities and ineffectiveness of traditional fundraising by centralizing and standardizing the process. Instead of spending time on endless grant applications, you create a single, detailed profile that philanthropists and foundations can easily discover and fund. Our other tools like our centralized due diligence tool and "2 click grants" (coming soon) build off of this core concept: that we can make things radically better by centralizing them on one common platform.

Philanthropists can browse charity profiles, see your funding needs, and express interest directly—saving you countless hours. We are soon rolling out a "two click granting" tool where donors can set their granting preferences and if your charity matches their preferences, you will automatically be notified in your dashboard, and can send your portrait onward right through to their WellFunded dashboard. Sort of like applying to a job through LinkedIn Easy Apply.

WellFunded charges philanthropists presently. For charities, WellFunded offers a free tier, with plans for affordable paid options that provide enhanced visibility and engagement tools. However, we will always have a free tier. We will introduce pricing once enough active donors use the platform to influence giving.

Instead of relying on cold proposals or personal networks, WellFunded helps you get in front of philanthropists actively looking to give in your area of impact. With advanced search tools and standardized due diligence, your work speaks for itself—helping you build trust and attract new donors.

Charity profiles include leadership information, financial data, and clear funding needs. Philanthropists can also see impact reports and follow the giving activity of other donors, creating a more open and transparent ecosystem.

Yes. WellFunded prioritizes data security and does not sell or share your private information outside the platform.
