About Clean Nova Scotia Foundation

Overview

Clean Nova Scotia Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting environmental sustainability and clean energy initiatives in Nova Scotia. Through programs such as Homewarming, Clean Energy School, and Clean Coasts, the charity aims to improve energy efficiency in homes, educate the community on environmental issues, and protect coastal ecosystems. Additionally, initiatives like Next Ride and Clean Saltmarsh Grasses focus on sustainable transportation and conservation efforts. With a focus on clean energy, education, and conservation, Clean Nova Scotia Foundation works towards a greener and more sustainable future for the province.

Mission

Clean Foundation exists to provide communities with the knowledge, tools, and inspiration needed to encourage individual and collective actions that create positive environmental change. It works specifically for a clean climate and clean water, translating climate priorities into practical, on-the-ground programs that deliver meaningful results for communities across the region while fostering the next generation of clean leaders.

Vision

Clean Foundation works toward a future where communities across Nova Scotia and Atlantic Canada make real, measurable progress against climate change — a cleaner climate and cleaner water for all. It is guided by values of partnership, inclusivity, and equity, ensuring that climate solutions are accessible and beneficial to everyone, including Indigenous, Black, African Nova Scotian, and other underrepresented communities. The organization acknowledges its work takes place in Mi'kma'ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi'kmaq, and centres reconciliation in its approach.

Unique value proposition

Clean Foundation distinguishes itself as a partnership-driven implementation organization that bridges the gap between government climate priorities and real community outcomes. Rather than focusing solely on advocacy or research, it assembles specialized teams to co-design and deliver complex, multi-partner programs — from income-qualified home energy retrofits and EV rebate administration to artificial reef deployment and Indigenous energy training — ensuring solutions are locally grounded, inclusive, and resilient. Its ability to operate across sectors and scales, from individual households to regional policy, makes it a uniquely trusted delivery partner across Atlantic Canada.
