Compassion House Foundation exists to support women who must leave their homes for cancer care. It fulfills this purpose by providing safe, comfortable, and affordable accommodations at Sorrentino's Compassion House in Edmonton, Alberta, and by delivering programs and services that address the ongoing needs of women throughout and beyond their cancer journey.

Vision

Compassion House Foundation strives to ease the distress of the cancer journey for women, working toward a future where no woman facing cancer must navigate her treatment journey without safe, comfortable, and affordable support. The Foundation envisions a sanctuary of healing where women can focus on recovery, and it extends that vision beyond its walls through post-treatment programs that keep women connected to resources and community long after they return home.

Unique value proposition

Compassion House Foundation stands apart by combining deeply affordable, subsidized accommodation (just $35 per night) with a genuine healing community, located only 2 km from the Cross Cancer Institute and supported by a shuttle service for medical appointments. Unlike many health-related facilities, the Foundation receives no government funding, relying entirely on donor generosity to subsidize costs and maintain a high standard of supportive care — spending approximately 12% of its annual budget on administration. Its model extends beyond the stay itself, offering post-treatment programs such as CompassionConnects that continue to serve women in their home communities, making it a sustained partner across the full cancer journey rather than a temporary lodging provider.

WellFunded charges philanthropists today. For charities, WellFunded offers a free tier, with plans for affordable paid options that provide enhanced visibility and engagement tools. There will always be a free tier.

How does WellFunded help my charity get discovered?

Instead of relying on cold proposals or personal networks, WellFunded helps you get in front of philanthropists actively looking to give in your area of impact.

How does WellFunded ensure trust and transparency?
