About Food Banks British Columbia

Overview

Food Banks British Columbia is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing community food banks with the support and resources necessary to accept, store, and distribute donations of fresh produce, protein, dairy, and more. By diverting food from dumps into the hands of 80,000 people each month who are hungry in British Columbia, the organization plays a crucial role in addressing food insecurity in the region. They acquire bulk donations of food and ensure they reach any community in BC requiring food assistance. Additionally, Food Banks British Columbia operates the BC Coupon Program, provides emergency assistance during crises like pandemics or natural disasters, and maintains a province-wide emergency preparedness and response program to ensure the safe collection, transportation, and distribution of food during emergencies.

Mission

To inspire, empower and support our members in working towards a hunger-free British Columbia.

Vision

Honourable, inclusive, respectful, and trustworthy. We adapt and respond appropriately to changing conditions with timeliness, flexibility, and innovation.

Unique Value Proposition

Operating the BC Coupon Program which directly benefits community food banks enabling them to purchase locally whichever food they need at the time, maintaining a province-wide emergency preparedness and response program aimed at ensuring the safe collection, transportation and distribution of food to wherever needed during an emergency, and assisting community food banks with food transportation costs when food needs to be accessed from outside their area.

Everything you need to know about getting started

WellFunded eliminates the inefficiencies, inequities and ineffectiveness of traditional fundraising by centralizing and standardizing the process. Instead of spending time on endless grant applications, you create a single, detailed profile that philanthropists and foundations can easily discover and fund. Our other tools like our centralized due diligence tool and "2 click grants" (coming soon) build off of this core concept: that we can make things radically better by centralizing them on one common platform.

Philanthropists can browse charity profiles, see your funding needs, and express interest directly—saving you countless hours. We are soon rolling out a "two click granting" tool where donors can set their granting preferences and if your charity matches their preferences, you will automatically be notified in your dashboard, and can send your portrait onward right through to their WellFunded dashboard. Sort of like applying to a job through LinkedIn Easy Apply.

WellFunded charges philanthropists presently. For charities, WellFunded offers a free tier, with plans for affordable paid options that provide enhanced visibility and engagement tools. However, we will always have a free tier. We will introduce pricing once enough active donors use the platform to influence giving.

Instead of relying on cold proposals or personal networks, WellFunded helps you get in front of philanthropists actively looking to give in your area of impact. With advanced search tools and standardized due diligence, your work speaks for itself—helping you build trust and attract new donors.

Charity profiles include leadership information, financial data, and clear funding needs. Philanthropists can also see impact reports and follow the giving activity of other donors, creating a more open and transparent ecosystem.

Yes. WellFunded prioritizes data security and does not sell or share your private information outside the platform.
