HNWS is the primary gender-based violence agency serving the two-county Haldimand–Norfolk region, offering a single, integrated continuum of care that spans emergency response through long-term recovery and community prevention. Its distinctive combination of a 24/7 crisis line, confidential residential shelter, specialized counselling streams, school-based programs, and youth empowerment initiatives such as the 27-year-old G.I.R.L.S. Power Camp makes it uniquely equipped to address gender-based violence across the full lifespan in a rural and small-urban Ontario setting. All services are provided free of charge and are supported by provincial government funding as well as community donations.
