Overview

Hospice Northwest is dedicated to providing compassionate end-of-life care and support to individuals facing terminal illness. Through their program, they recruit, screen, and train volunteers in palliative care to match client needs with individualized care plans. Volunteers visit clients in hospitals, community homes, or long-term care facilities, providing ongoing educational support and holding support groups. The mission of Hospice Northwest Services is to foster a compassionate community response to the needs of anyone living with, dying from, or affected by illness and disease. Founded in 1986 and operating as a volunteer-driven registered charity, the organization exists to ensure that individuals and their families receive emotional, spiritual, and practical support at end of life, regardless of diagnosis and at no cost.

Hospice Northwest Services envisions being a leader in providing compassionate companionship, education, and support to individuals and their families as they travel through the final stages of life and death. Unique value proposition

Hospice Northwest Services fills a critical gap in Northwestern Ontario by delivering free, volunteer-based palliative and grief support across all care settings in a region that currently has no free-standing residential hospice facility. Its provincially accredited volunteer training program, network of over 145 trained palliative care companions, and reach into remote and underserviced communities distinguish it from other providers. The organization further sets itself apart through culturally responsive programming — including the Indigenous-led Gashkendamide'e grief support workshop and the Journey Home Team for vulnerably housed individuals — reflecting a commitment to equitable, compassionate care for all members of the community.

What does it cost?

WellFunded charges philanthropists today. For charities, WellFunded offers a free tier, with plans for affordable paid options that provide enhanced visibility and engagement tools. There will always be a free tier.

How does WellFunded help my charity get discovered?

Instead of relying on cold proposals or personal networks, WellFunded helps you get in front of philanthropists actively looking to give in your area of impact.

How does WellFunded ensure trust and transparency?

Charity profiles include leadership information, financial data, and clear funding needs. Philanthropists can also see impact reports and follow giving activity of other donors.
