About Jim Pattison Children's Hospital Foundation Inc.

Overview

The Jim Pattison Children's Hospital Foundation (JPCHF) is a Saskatoon-based provincial charity, registered in Canada, that raises and stewards funds in support of maternal and pediatric healthcare in Saskatchewan. It serves as the philanthropic partner to Jim Pattison Children's Hospital — Saskatchewan's only dedicated children's and maternal hospital, opened in 2019 on the University of Saskatchewan campus — as well as to the Saskatchewan Health Authority and related provincial health institutions. Since its founding in 1992, the Foundation has disbursed over $85 million to enhance patient care, fund cutting-edge medical equipment and technology, and advance research and education in areas such as pediatric diabetes, Indigenous maternal health, and youth mental health. In fiscal year 2024, the Foundation granted $4.9 million to the hospital and supported more than 83,000 family visits from 575 Saskatchewan communities. JPCHF is a member of Canada's Children's Hospital Foundations and operates signature fundraising programs including the annual Radiothon, the Jeans & Jewels Gala, and the Sunshine Club monthly-giving program.

Mission

The Jim Pattison Children's Hospital Foundation exists to inspire philanthropy that leads the transformation of maternal and children's health in Saskatchewan and globally, through world-class family-centred care, research, and innovation. Founded in 1992, the Foundation raises funds to support equipment and technology, medical research and education, and patient care programs at Jim Pattison Children's Hospital and across the province, ensuring that children, expectant mothers, and their families have access to specialized healthcare close to home.

Vision

The Jim Pattison Children's Hospital Foundation envisions a future in which maternal and children's health in Saskatchewan is transformed through world-class, family-centred care, research, and innovation. The Foundation is committed to ensuring that specialized, life-saving care is accessible to children and expectant mothers across all four corners of the province, equitably and regardless of geography, diversity, ethnicity, or socio-economic background. Its positioning statement — 'World-Class maternal, children's care and research that's distinctly Saskatchewan' — reflects its aspiration to deliver globally competitive healthcare rooted in the needs of Saskatchewan families.

Unique value proposition

The Jim Pattison Children's Hospital Foundation is the sole provincial charity dedicated to supporting Saskatchewan's only dedicated maternal and children's hospital, serving families from every corner of the province. Its distinctiveness lies in addressing a critical gap: Saskatchewan was historically one of only two provinces in Canada without a dedicated children's hospital, meaning critically ill children often had to be transported out of province for specialized care. By funding the province's only pediatric intensive care unit, its only pediatric transport team, and its only cochlear implant program — among other unique services — the Foundation ensures that world-class, specialized care is available to Saskatchewan families at home. This province-wide mandate, combined with a commitment to equitable access and culturally respectful care, sets JPCHF apart from other regional health foundations.
