Mission

La Maison Aube-Lumière exists to welcome, free of charge, people at the end of life and provide them with high-quality palliative care, while accompanying patients and their loved ones in meeting their psychosocial and spiritual needs. The organization also contributes to the advancement of teaching and research in palliative care, and delivers its services in complement to the public health network through an interdisciplinary team of professionals, volunteers, and support staff.

Unique value proposition

La Maison Aube-Lumière stands apart by offering entirely free, holistic palliative care — encompassing medical, psychosocial, spiritual, and bereavement services — in a warm, home-like environment surrounded by gardens, sustained by a community of approximately 100 volunteers contributing over 30,000 hours annually. It holds the distinction of being the first palliative care home in Canada to be ready to provide medically assisted dying to patients who request it, in full compliance with government requirements. As of November 2025, the organization expanded its mission beyond cancer patients to also serve those with terminal chronic illnesses, further broadening its impact across the Estrie region.

WellFunded charges philanthropists today. For charities, WellFunded offers a free tier, with plans for affordable paid options that provide enhanced visibility and engagement tools. There will always be a free tier.

How does WellFunded ensure trust and transparency?
