About Ocasi Ontario Council Of Agencies Serving Immigrants

Overview

The OCASI-Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants is a charity dedicated to supporting immigrants in Ontario through public education, regional networking, community and government relations, research, policy analysis, position development, and skills training. They work tirelessly to advocate for the rights and well-being of immigrants, providing essential services and resources to help them integrate successfully into Canadian society.

Mission

OCASI's mission is to achieve equality, access, and full participation for immigrants and refugees in every aspect of Canadian life. It champions equity and human rights for immigrants and refugees through advocacy, collective action, collaborative planning, research, capacity-building, and information and knowledge transfer. Founded in 1978, OCASI serves as the collective voice of the immigrant and refugee-serving sector in Ontario.

Vision

OCASI envisions a country of equity and social justice where everyone belongs. The organization is guided by the belief that all persons have the right to participate fully and equitably in the social, cultural, political, and economic life of Canada, and that immigrants and refugees must have guaranteed equitable access to all services and programs. Its work is grounded in a commitment to human rights, reconciliation, and the principles of social justice.

Unique value proposition

OCASI occupies a distinctive role as a sector-building intermediary and the authoritative collective voice for Ontario's immigrant and refugee-serving sector, rather than a direct-service provider. Its unique position bridges frontline community agencies, all levels of government, and the broader public, enabling coordinated advocacy, innovative cross-sectoral solutions, and province-wide capacity-building at a scale no individual agency could achieve. With over four decades of experience, a membership of more than 250 organizations, and a portfolio of nationally recognized programs and digital platforms, OCASI serves as an invaluable infrastructure partner that sustains and strengthens the entire settlement and integration system in Ontario.
