About Shuswap Area Family Emergency Society

Overview

Shuswap Area Family Emergency Society operates the Women's Emergency Shelter for women with or without children, providing 24-hour access for women leaving an abusive relationship. They also operate the Children Who Witness Abuse Program, offering one-on-one and group counseling for ages 3-18 years with parental support available. Additionally, the society runs the Stopping the Violence Program, providing counseling for women who are or have been in an abusive relationship. Their ongoing programs include women's emergency shelter, community counseling, police-based victim services, and outreach services.

To end violence in the Shuswap by providing a broad spectrum of services to persons who are impacted by abuse.

The SAFE Society works from an intersectional feminist and trauma-informed philosophy.
