About United Way British Columbia

Overview

United Way British Columbia is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating a healthy, caring, and inclusive community. They serve the needs of the local community, mobilize people to address local issues, collaborate with partners to solve problems, and support programs that create life-saving connections for local kids, seniors, and citizens across the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley. Their programs focus on addressing pressing needs, such as mental health, social isolation, and vulnerability among seniors, especially during the COVID-19 crisis. Through initiatives like Hi Neighbour and Safe Seniors, Strong Communities, United Way British Columbia aims to build lasting connections and support well-being in the community.

Mission

We strengthen vital connections that support people in need in our local communities.

Vision

United Way BC is committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) principles, working toward creating environments where individuals, no matter their background, can thrive, feel valued, and have equal opportunities to succeed. The organization is committed to actively ensuring that the work they do recognizes the right of all peoples to be unique and to be respected as such.

Values

We bring people together and inspire local action to address the needs people face as a result of increasing social disconnection. We collaborate to co-create solutions with local social service agencies, government, unions, universities, advocacy groups, corporate partners, and donors. We build transformative long-term donor relationships. We inspire and mentor leadership to promote and deepen connections across communities, organizations, and individuals. We step in where gaps exist to. We bring our unique strengths and expertise as a fund and program manager to manage and support critical programs that build life changing connections. We connect our rigorous evidence-based approach with community listening and consultations to ensure we prioritize and allocate resources towards where we can make the greatest impact. We evaluate the impact of our work and ensure programs have measurable outcomes.

Unique Value Proposition

United Way BC is the sole United Way in British Columbia, providing a unified provincial approach to addressing critical social issues. The organization operates on the principle that dollars raised locally, stay local, and has consolidated resources to respond to urgent needs in real-time across over 260 communities and First Nations groups throughout the province.

Everything you need to know about getting started

WellFunded eliminates the inefficiencies, inequities and ineffectiveness of traditional fundraising by centralizing and standardizing the process. Instead of spending time on endless grant applications, you create a single, detailed profile that philanthropists and foundations can easily discover and fund. Our other tools like our centralized due diligence tool and "2 click grants" (coming soon) build off of this core concept: that we can make things radically better by centralizing them on one common platform.

Philanthropists can browse charity profiles, see your funding needs, and express interest directly—saving you countless hours. We are soon rolling out a "two click granting" tool where donors can set their granting preferences and if your charity matches their preferences, you will automatically be notified in your dashboard, and can send your portrait onward right through to their WellFunded dashboard. Sort of like applying to a job through LinkedIn Easy Apply.

WellFunded charges philanthropists presently. For charities, WellFunded offers a free tier, with plans for affordable paid options that provide enhanced visibility and engagement tools. However, we will always have a free tier. We will introduce pricing once enough active donors use the platform to influence giving.

Instead of relying on cold proposals or personal networks, WellFunded helps you get in front of philanthropists actively looking to give in your area of impact. With advanced search tools and standardized due diligence, your work speaks for itself—helping you build trust and attract new donors.

Charity profiles include leadership information, financial data, and clear funding needs. Philanthropists can also see impact reports and follow the giving activity of other donors, creating a more open and transparent ecosystem.

Yes. WellFunded prioritizes data security and does not sell or share your private information outside the platform.
